Services

One-on-one consultations

When we first start working together, you will typically undergo a period of assessment followed by a period of treatment.

In the assessment phase, I aim to gain a thorough understanding of your situation from your point of view. I may ask you to complete questionnaires or other assessments to help me understand you and the presenting issues.

The treatment phase involves helping you understand your thoughts, emotional responses and behaviour patterns. You will be provided with pragmatic strategies to do manage these patterns more effectively. Sessions are collaborative, meaning that you make active decisions about your goals and how you would like to achieve them.

Throughout our sessions, I review treatment effectiveness on an ongoing basis to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Evidence-based approach

Psychologists deliver their mental health expertise by diagnosing and assessing problems, developing treatments and strategies, and offering support and guidance.

An appointment with a psychologist may include:

  • Discussing the issues of concern

  • Assessing your emotional, cognitive and behavioural functioning

  • Exploring the thoughts, feelings and behaviour and tracing their origins

  • Helping you to develop effective ways of controlling and coping with these difficulties

  • Helping you to implement changes that enhance wellbeing and awareness, and alleviate the presenting problems

Psychology Rates

Individual Consultations

Typical duration 45-60 mins | $260 full fee or $230 concession fee with a valid concession card

Medicare

Under the Medicare rebate, seeing a psychologist becomes more accessible and affordable. To receive this rebate, you need to be referred to a psychologist by a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.

The Medicare rebate from July 2024 to see a clinical psychologist is $141.85

Private Health
You may be eligible for a rebate through your Private Health Fund. Speak directly to your Private Health Fund for further information regarding your eligibility. Please note that only one claim channel can be used per session (i.e. either Medicare or Private Health Insurance, but not both).

NDIS

Self-managed and plan managed NDIS participants only. Unfortunately, we are not able to service agency managed NDIS participants.

A ‘self-managed plan’ is where an NDIS participant or their plan nominee engages NDIS supports and services themselves. A ‘plan managed plan’ is where an NDIS participant engages a registered NDIS provider to provide plan management services.

Psychology services are funded by the NDIS if your plan includes the support category “Improved Daily Living Skills”- under the Capacity Building section of an NDIS plan. Current fee for a one hour consult with a psychologist is $222.99 per the NDIS Pricing Arrangement.

You must have this in place to receive psychology services, and psychology services must also be aligned with your goals set out in your plan.

Medicare Rebates

You can book an appointment with your GP to discuss why you would like to see a psychologist.

If your GP agrees you are eligible, they will complete a Mental Health Care Plan and make a referral to the psychologist you would like to see. Typically, your GP can offer a recommendation for suitable psychologists in your area.

Your GP will review your progress after your first six sessions. Your psychologist will provide your GP with correspondence detailing your presentation, provided treatment and treatment outcomes. If appropriate, your GP will then recommend an additional four sessions.

Following a mental health review, you may be eligible for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

You need to have a valid MHCP to receive a Medicare rebate for the attended session.
